A Lotus V?
Looks like a Supra with some stickers to me.

Wow, an 80's Toyota that gets driven in the rust belt, and still ... Exists. That's a rare beast.

It needs more faux badging. How about TVR?

Wikipedia tells me that Lotus helped Toyota engineer the Supra, so the owner is probably playing off that.

I love the vanity plates to go with the vanity badges. It's a pity, having an intact 80s Supra at this point would be car cred on it's own. A large part of the public they're trying to impress won't know what a Lotus is anyway..

And thanks to Wikipedia I discover a Lotus from the 80s I can afford

A restored 78 Esprit went for $36 k last weekend. I’m going to assume the restoration cost more than that....
I guess 140HP doesn’t cut it anymore, but damn that car still looks great to me.

That poor car. What did it ever do to deserve that?

I watched some of the Barrett Jackson last weekend there were a lot of buy cheaper than you can build it/restore it cars.

Yeah, unless something is really collectible most of the auctions are passion projects. The problem is that many times you don’t know who did the work.
The Lotus was estimated at $50 -7 0k, and I noticed that the majority of the RM/Gooding sales were below estimate. Still way out of reach, but getting closer! lol

They all seemed to get rust on the hatch, if not cared for, I have even seen them like that here. I don’t mind the bodykit, works well with the color. Too bad about the neglect.

Not sure it’s neglect so much as daily driven in WI since new.
The owner is in his late 50s-early 60s, so I’m assuming he bought it new.

Daily driven in WI isn’t neglect, it is abuse :)
Actually, if that thing has seen 35 rust zone winters, it’s a miraculous car.
